Psychoacoustics
Psychoacoustics is basically “the study of the perception of sound,”(Farhan,2016)
Psychoacoustics is about how the human brain gets affected due to the impact of a sound, that sound could be anything from a speech to a song. There are many different concepts of psychoacoustics. Some of the concepts are ‘Masking effects,’ ‘Sound localization,’ and Music.
Masking effects
The masking effect is when a clear audible sound gets masked or covered due to another sound. It could be a sound right next to you that suddenly fades away when some other noise that is even louder is formed.
Sound localisation
Sound localization focuses on how we can figure out what the direction of the sound source is. With the difference between the tone, dynamics, and many other elements as well as the timing between the two ears, is how the brain can locate the source of a sound and where the sound is coming from.
Music
Music works psychologically. Depending on the tone, dynamic range, and many other factors of music, your attitude, mood, etc will change. Depending on how different elements affects the brain, people use it to their advantages. The majority would see what type of music would make them feel peace and they would use those songs as meditation.
These are just 3 out of many different concepts of psychoacoustics. There is almost an endless amount of different concepts.
